Visionen des Realen - Figurative Malerei aus Berlin
Group exhibition with works by Anna Grau, Axel Pahlavi, Florence Obrecht, Matthias Gálvez, Rosario Vázquez Lozano, Wanda Stang, Wu Zhi und Bernd Reichert.
Curator: Dr Ellen Markgraf, Kassel
Amid digital abstraction’s dominance, this exhibition celebrates Berlin’s finest figurative realist painters, highlighting the human figure and everyday scenes as tools for exploring identity, memory, and social themes. Figurative realism, blending timeless techniques with modern sensibilities, counters fleeting digital media by fostering connection and reflecting lived realities.
Rooted in art history, from Renaissance mastery to modern innovators like Freud and Hopper, these Berlin-based artists reinterpret realism through diverse, contemporary lenses. Their work captures the city’s contrasts, elevates the ordinary, and champions craftsmanship. This exhibition reaffirms figurative realism’s relevance, inspiring reflection and deeper engagement with art and life.

Lara Faroqhi - No Straight Lines
Lara Faroqhi‘s solo exhibition NO STRAIGHT LINES explores how nature is experienced in the urban environment. Public and private gardens embody idealized visions of nature, ideas that reflect human desires. Such gardens serve as places for relaxation and sensory experiences, yet they are deliberately artificial. Lara‘s works examine the tension between ‚natural‘ and ‚artificial‘ as it focuses on the transient aspects of how we perceive and interact with our own ideas and definition of ‚nature‘.
